Shopyte’s Take on Sustainable Luxury

Article for Fashion Scout

Shopyte is a fashion brand that brings classic femininity and sustainability together. Dovilė Šopytė is the designer behind the brand and through her work, she aims to promote quality over quantity, but also to encourage women to feel in harmony with themselves. All this is expressed through luxurious natural fiber garments that are used to create simple and smart clothes for women of all ages.

For the SS20 season, Shopyte highlights the excessive consumption and the pollution we create through deforestation. The models were wearing surgical masks from fine materials and structured hats with shiny necklaces dangling from their edges.

The masks, that we’ve seen more and more on the catwalk in the past years, remind us once more that the earth is more polluted than ever and that we need to take immediate action. Bold and breezy tones, such as baby blue, turquoise, and emerald green were used for this collection. Minimalist lines were contouring the silhouettes of the models, emphasizing the easiness to move in Shopyte clothes.

Shopyte aims not only to support ethical fashion but also to build a community for conscious buyers. It doesn’t focus on trends, but on creating eternal pieces that the consumer can accessorize for unlimited occasions.

Shopyte is right as sustainable luxury is a groundswell. Several upper luxury houses have already begun the transition since the eighties but they do not communicate on the subject, maybe the public was not ready at that time.
